Humour is the tendency to look at things from the incongruous side. It is the quality that makes something  amusing. Humour is the ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is amusing or comical. It is the source of laughter. Humor is a state of mind.

Most of us have a tendency to regard a clever sense of humor as the distinction of a person who is good-hearted and friendly, someone we feel at ease with, the partner who always has a joke; we always invite him/her to  our pizza parties.  We remember the kid in school that always made the class break into laughter. A good sense of humour will help us  in life, experts say.  But humour is not always as good as that. We  use  humour to amuse, but mostly TO ABUSE.

Humor has been the source of entertainment throughout history. Today humour is practiced in movies, sitcoms,  plays, songs, television shows and radio, yet nowadays, most of the humor shows and sitcoms on TV are based on the use  of humor to abuse. When we use humor to hurt, we abuse the fundamental essence of this wonderful gift.

We must teach our children the difference  between what is funny and what is cruel. A joke is never humourous if it is at the expense of another.

Some of the greatest comedians use humour to speak ill about politicians,  to tell jokes on religious ideas and people's beliefs. Many twitter, Instagram, and FB users use humor to hide their real emotions and are often cruel in their humourous comments on unskilled or ungifted people. They make their "funny quotes worth laughing over" on helpless people and they find themselves witty, clever and funny.

Using humour to make people laugh  is a lot different than using humour to laugh at people.

We must learn and teach others how to use and enjoy humour to our best advantage because it is true that a good sense of humour will help us in life.  Instead of getting angry when something goes wrong, we should try to look for the humour in the situation. It eases tensions and keeps things in perspective. Humour can energize us when a task has become tedious. Humour can make even the worst situations tolerable.

We mustn't forget about empathy and respect towards others while laughing!.
